For this, she received the prestigious Governor’s Honorary Award.
The same year, she did a Victorian Era fashion shoot with Pakistan’s iconic Reema Khan and Athar Shehzad, which was printed in a leading fashion paper.
During her studies, she launched her own fashion publication, ILS Magazine, which best reflects her talent and work. Her publication continues to be one of the top fashion and lifestyle papers in the country, with a strong presence on social media.
She has also served on the jury panel for the Lux Style Awards multiple times as a renowned
fashion journalist.
Juggling a successful career as a fashion designer for her brand “Sarah Gandapur Designs”, fashion journalist, and publicist, it was only fitting that she became a leading red carpet host, frequently invited as a guest on television as a fashion and media personality.
She won the ARY Film Award for the film Chambaili as “Best Costume Designer” in 2013.
She became somewhat of an ambassador for the soft image of Pakistan’s empowered women by participating in and winning multiple awards at international fashion weeks and exhibitions—setting a strong example of enlightened moderation for women in the country.
Gandapur also won the Sixth Sense Governor’s Award in 2021 for her leading role in services and campaigning for animal rights advocacy in Pakistan.
Becoming a truly successful entrepreneur, she set out to use her influence for greater causeslike advocating for environmental issues as well as supporting human rights, while alsoshedding light on the important women’s rights movements taking place within the country.
But the true human being in her is reflected through her work and love for animal welfare in Pakistan.
Sarah Gandapur is a renowned animal rights activist who has been tirelessly working for animal rights advocacy on national and international platforms for over a decade.
She was also a part of the historic rescue of Kaavan the elephant from Islamabad Zoo—an initiative of the world-renowned animal rescue organization Four Paws International, in collaboration with Cher and the Free The Wildorganization.
It is worthy to mention that she has had the privilege of working with the great Dr. Amir Khalil and his amazing team of doctors and rescuers from Four Paws International on more than one occasion—since the brown bears from Islamabadwere also rescued by Dr. Khalil and his team and relocated to freedom at the Al-Ma’wa reserve of the Princess of Jordan.
Gandapur is never one to shy away from hard work and is completely committed to animals. She continues to raise her voice for animals in captivity, on the streets, in animal markets, domestic pets, and in the medical testing and fur/skin industries.
Currently, she is working with the Punjab Government’s panel of activists to develop rules and regulations related to animal welfare laws in Pakistan.
She is passionately working with stray and abused animals—helping in their rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Her non-profit organization is named “Sayaa Animal Welfare”, created in loving memory of her parents.
Sayaa (meaning “shade”) is an initiative to provide protection to animals in need.
The first project of her NGO is “Sayaa Veterinary Clinic”, which aims to provide free medical care to rescued and stray animals and will also cater to domestic pets. The clinic was a lifelong dream for Sarah, which is now becoming a reality with the help of the renowned charity CDRS and its “Benji Animal Welfare & Rescue”.
Sayaa Clinic will be operating from its first branch in DHA, Lahore, with a vision to establish further branches across the country.
She also has a shelter project in the pipeline with Hope Uplift Foundation, aimed at providing animals with a sanctuary.
